Terms of Service

Welcome to ShareShows. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ShareShows mobile app and related services (the "Service") operated by Artwalrus ("ShareShows", "we", "us", or "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ShareShows. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you're under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Your account

• You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
• You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
• You must provide accurate information when signing up.
• You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. Deletion is permanent.

3. Your content

ShareShows lets you post content such as recommendations, notes, ratings, watchlists, pitches to family members, display names, and avatar images ("Your Content").

• You own Your Content. We don't claim ownership of anything you post.
• You grant us a license to host, store, display, and transmit Your Content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (for example, showing your recommendations to your friends). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except to the extent Your Content has been shared with others who haven't deleted it.
• You're responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have the right to post it and that it doesn't violate these Terms or any law.

4. Acceptable use and zero-tolerance policy

ShareShows has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.

You agree not to post, upload, transmit, or share any content that:

• Is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit
• Promotes hate speech, harassment, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group
• Threatens, bullies, or intimidates other users
• Impersonates any person or entity
• Contains spam, scams, or unsolicited advertising
• Infringes any intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights
• Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Violates any applicable law or regulation

You also agree not to:

• Attempt to access other users' accounts
• Scrape, harvest, or mass-download data from the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Reverse engineer the Service
• Use the Service to develop a competing product

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, at any time and without notice.

5. Reporting and moderation

If you encounter content or a user that violates these Terms:

• In-app: long-press a recommendation to report it, or open a friend's profile and tap "Report User".
• By email: write to support@shareshows.app.

We commit to reviewing reports within 48 hours and taking appropriate action, which may include removing content, warning users, or terminating accounts.

6. Blocking and removing users

You can block any user from the Friends tab. Blocking a user:

• Hides their recommendations and pitches from your feed
• Prevents them from sending you new connection requests

You can also remove a friend connection at any time. Removal is reversible; blocking is stronger and we recommend it if you no longer want a user to contact you.

7. AI-generated content

When you use the "Share with Family" feature, ShareShows uses an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) to draft a personalized pitch message on your behalf. You're responsible for reviewing the AI-generated text before sending it. Once you send a pitch, you're treated as the author of the content.

AI-generated pitches may be inaccurate, incomplete, or produce unexpected output. Don't send them without reading them first.

8. Streaming services and third-party content

ShareShows displays availability information and metadata for shows and movies sourced from third parties (TMDB, Watchmode, etc.). We don't guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of this information. ShareShows is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any streaming service.

You're responsible for maintaining your own subscriptions to streaming services. ShareShows doesn't stream, distribute, or provide access to any show or movie.

9. Termination

You can stop using ShareShows at any time by deleting your account from the Profile screen.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, dispute resolution) will survive.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or course of performance.

We don't warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Any content (including AI-generated pitches) is accurate or reliable
• Any defects will be corrected

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will ShareShows, its operators, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of the Service.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
